This was the kind of experience that left me literally standing on those steps shaking and in tears. I didn't want to put that into the actual post, but I stood there with tears streaming down my face next to my wise friend and mentor, Thomas, who was shocked. I pulled myself together while we walked to Rockefeller Center and I tried to explain what I was feeling, but couldn't do so without crying (in joy). But he understood.

It was so appropriate too that when we arrived at Rockefeller Plaza, there were thousands of people milling about. Strangers were offering to snap photos for friends and families so they could all be in them. The streets and sidewalks were overflowing, but nobody cut anyone off or pushed or shoved. Everyone was smiling and had lights glittering in their eyes. The whole evening was one of the most powerful events of my life.

After all that, we met up with Thomas's partner, Greg, for Chinese Food. My fortune read: "Act as if it were impossible to fail."

This was a profound experience for me, but I'm not a writer. It's been tough to verbalize that moment of clarity and connection I felt in December. But it's been long enough sitting as a draft on wordpress that I needed to put it out into the world.
